There are many physical prospects in this draft class, namely RHP Mitchell Traver, RHP Ty Hensley and 1B/OF Adam Brett Walerk, but few have the sheer physicality to match Coulter, who was a state wrestling champion at Union High, and who happens to moonlight as the team’s catcher and top hitter.
Clearly, Coulter is well-conditioned and incredibly strong. That projects to impressive raw power that could emerge one day in the form of 25-30 homers per season. To further bolster his case, take into account that he also has displayed strong plate discipline and has top-notch athleticism, athleticism that should allow him to blossom behind the plate, where he has shown a very strong arm.
After Wyatt Mathisen, Coulter could be the first backstop selected, possibly as high as the supplemental first-round.
