Junior outfielder Austin Meadows got a healthy shot of press this past week when ESPN singled him out with a cover story about the athletic player who ranks second on their list of baseball prospects for the 2013 college baseball recruiting class.
After reading the story it’s easy to see why ESPN is so high on Meadows. He’s a legitimate five-tool talent whom the writer Matt Remsberg compares to Josh Hamilton and Andre Ethier. He has the size (6’3” and 200 lbs), speed and athleticism (he moonlights as the punter on the football squad). Now all he needs to do is add some polish and show he can handle all the national attention that will be focused on Grayson HS in the following year.
After a record-setting performance with Team USA last year, Meadows is locked in to attend the numerous showcase events this summer, and with a strong showing, he should head into his senior season in consideration for the number one overall selection.
