Albert Almora went sixth-overall in this year’s draft, and while that should be an incredible source of pride for his baseball program, Mater Academy, the same team has another player who should figure into next year’s top picks as well.
That player in question is Almora’s outfield-mate, William Abreu, who, as of right now could be looking at a top-five selection.
Like Almora, Abreu already looks the part of a professional ballplayer. At 6’3” and 195 pounds he is an incredible physical specimen who oozes talent.
He has a sweet left-handed swing that should produce above-average power and a good average. He’s a plus runner on the basepaths and his arm should also be a great weapon thanks to the time he’s spent on the mound.
Like Almora, Abreu will have to be swayed away from a commitment to the University of Miami.

I saw Willy play with Albert Almora and let me tell you, Willy looks unbelievably good. His athleticism is above everyone else I have seen before, he holds a very easy swing to the ball and with a lot of pop. Willy is now with Team USA and heading to South Korea. He is definitely the best outfielder they have. In my opinion, he is better than Austin Meadow who did not make Team USA.
