In case you missed it, the college rankings have been updated, and there’s a new man atop the rankings.
Kevin Gausman has been on fire for LSU this year, and as a draft-eligible sophomore, it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll be the player who hears his name called first on draft day.
In 12 starts for the Tigers, who are ranked #2 nationally, the right-hander has gone 7-1 with a 3.16 ERA. Most impressive, however, has been his control. In 82.2 innings he has walked a mere 20 batters, while sending down 101 on strikeouts.
Furthermore, Gausman has surrendered only two home runs, one in his first start of the season against Air Force, and the other in his most recent start against Ole Miss. In between, he threw 81.2 homerless innings.
Expect many more scouting reports in the coming days, and even a new mock draft.
