High School Roundup (3/15/15)

Allard and Herbert Prove an Unstoppable Duo

San Clemente High School has, without a doubt, the top battery in all of the country. C Lucas Herbert continued his hot-hitting ways with a bases-clearing double, while LHP Kolby Allard worked off some rust in a four-strikeout, four-walk, four-inning outing that culminated in a 13-1 victory for San Clemente. Both Allard and Herbert are committed to UCLA, so provided they don’t sign they’ll be playing together for the foreseeable future.

Lambert Tosses Another CG, Sees His Stock Rise

Allard isn’t the only ace that hails from California. In fact, it might be a banner year for the Golden State, with prospects like San Dimas High School’s RHP Peter Lambert flashing some above-average stuff. Lambert was at it again this weekend, tossing a nine-strikeout, one-run complete-game in a 2-1 victory in the championship game of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Baseball Tournament. He’s now tossed back-to-back complete-games, and has struck out 22 batters in his last 14 innings.
