The presumptive top pick in the 2016 draft, Jason Groome, has been suspended for half of Barnegat High’s season, due to a violation of the state transfer rule. As a condition of his suspension, all of the stats from his senior campaign have been erased, including the 19-strikeout no-hitter that the left-hander tossed on April 11th.

According to Barnegat head coach Dan McCoy, Groome should be eligible to return on April 24, although there’s no telling if this suspension will effectively end his season. Michael McGarry, of the Press of Atlantic City claims Groome won’t be eligible to return until May 1.
