2017 Position Rankings: Right-Handed Pitcher

It’s not that often a high school baseball player finds his way onto the cover of Sports Illustrated. Then again, Hunter Greene isn’t most high school baseball players.

A two-way star that’s a legitimate first-round talent at shortstop, Greene headlines our 2017 crop of right-handed pitchers, but he’s far from the only future star. In fact, the No. 2 guy on our list (Kyle Wright) very well may surpass Greene when things are said and done. And if you’re looking for the pitcher that will beat both Greene and Wright to the big-leagues, look no further than No.3, J.B. Bukauskas.

This year’s crop has a little of everything. If you feel the need for speed, look no further than a trio of pitchers who have either topped triple digits, or come close, in Greene, Nate Pearson and high-schooler Sam Carlson.

If you’re looking for devastating breaking balls, then we’d direct you towards Blayne Enlow, Shane Baz, Alex Lange and Bukauskas, who has one of the best sliders we’ve ever seen coming out of college.

And if changeups are your thing, we’ve got a couple of well above-average offerings from Justin Lewis, Griffin Canning and Eli Morgan.

These rankings are current as of 6/5/17, and will be updated throughout the draft season.
